• Walk where famous movies were shot. Both ‘The English Patient’ and ‘Star Wars’ were shot in the Tunisian desert near Matmata.
• Trek through the desert high upon a Camel or by 4*4.
• Some fun loving tourist try their skill at dune skiing or quad biking over the never-ending sand-expanse.
• A visit to the local Hammam (Turkish bath) is a must. Get a scrub and steam up with the locals. You will talk about this one for years to come.
• Play Golf. Now there is an idea! There are well maintained courses at Port el Kantaoui near Sousse, Monastir, Tabarka, Carthage at Tunis, Tozeur, Hammamet and on the island of Djerba. Golf clubs can be rented.
• Ride on a horse along the beach on Djerba Island or take a few lessons to hone your skill.
• Be enchanted by the arts and crafts of the Tunisians. Sharpen your bartering skills to walk away with really good deals to remember your trip by.
• Tour Djerba Island. Observe history of thousands of years. See the oldest Synagogue outside of Israel and walk on a causeway originally built by the Romans, 7km across the Mediterranean, to connect to mainland Tunisia. Visit Guellala, the pottery capital of the Island where a museum was erected to depict the life style of the Berber people who live there. Have lunch in Midoun, a quaint and attractive town to stroll through or to see a Berber wedding enacted.
• Take a walk through history in Carthage, El Jem and El Kef to appreciate ruins from the Roman era.
• Need health or just de-stress? Thalassotherapy or a Spa is the answer. Thalassotherapy was invented in Europe to use the natural nutrients in sea water for healing and relaxation. There are 49 countrywide with 18 on Djerba Island.
• The Mediterranean laps onto the beautiful shores of Tunisia to make beach days most enjoyable. Laze in the sun to catch a tan or play beach volleyball, kite surf or parachute for a real thrill.
